Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz
Born in a small town in Mexico, she learned to read and write at the age of three and, from a very young age, her verses stood out in the court of New Spain. In 1667, she entered a convent of the Carmelites and two years later she transferred to convent of the Order of Saint Jerome, where she created some of her most important works.

Jane Austen
18th century British writer. Far from representing conventional romances, she used irony to criticize the social and gender differences typical of her time. Austen portrayed characters with deep and diverse psychological shades. The influence of these works was such that many have been adapted to the cinema with great success.

Gabriela Mistral
Considered one of the benchmarks of universal poetry, the Chilean writer was the first Latin American author to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature. Throughout her life, she maintained a strong commitment to equality between men and women and championed the fight for miscegenation, defending the use of indigenism in language.
